A cockatush minnow, is a small bullheaded like Goby found in North America. The Wisconsin nickname for these little fish is ‘muddler’. Other names for the fish are ‘Sculpin’ or ‘Bullhead’.
Originally designed by American fly tiers, these Muddler patterns have grown in use and popularity across the World. A modern pattern first tied in 1976 by Tom Saville. Muddlers are tied with a buoyant material, deer hair. They are really work well as a reservoir lure, as an imitation of a small bull head or minnow. Or used on the surface for sea-trout.
